The owners

You will meet the people who own the homes, not a head office.

Mike and Marcella Permall have run care homes in Folkestone for over twenty years and are in the buildings most days. Both are Registered Nurses, so clinical decisions are taken by people who have done the work themselves.

CQCCare Quality Commission

Rated Good in every area at both homes: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

What families say

From day one the staff were amazing. Happy, friendly and caring. Nothing was too much trouble. It did not matter what time of day I visited, I was always made welcome.

Google review, St Claire’s
A wonderful team who love my mum. She feels safe and is part of a small family, not a huge institution.

They take time to know each resident, their needs and personality. The staff go over and above to make the atmosphere as homely as possible. They care.

Questions people ask us first

If yours isn’t here, ring the office. Nobody minds a long list of questions.

Visiting

Can we visit before deciding?

Yes, and more than once if you can. Once at a mealtime and once in the afternoon, because the two feel different. Ring ahead or use the form below and Mike or Marcella will show you round themselves. Nothing is committed by visiting.

Fees

What do the fees cover?

Fee bands and what is included to be confirmed with the owners before this goes live.

Rooms

Can they bring their own furniture?

Please do. A chair, photographs, a familiar bedside table. Rooms feel like someone’s own once their things are in them.

Health & wellbeing

Which services visit the homes?

GP, dentist, physiotherapist, chiropodist, optician, hairdresser and aromatherapist all visit both homes regularly. Personal laundry is done on the premises. Bathrooms in both homes are fitted with hoist-assisted baths.

Day to day

What is there to do?

Musical mornings, chair exercises, reminiscence sessions, singers and entertainers, aromatherapy, shopping trips, walks to the town centre and the Leas, and outings to places of interest. Nobody is made to join in.
